Frequently asked questions
How much time do I need each day?
Each path is designed for 2–3 focused hours a day, six days a week, for 90 days. If you have less time, stretch the same plan over 120–180 days — the order matters more than the speed.
Are these paths really free?
Yes. Every 90-day path, roadmap, lab and glossary entry on DevOpsSchool.org is free and open. Optional instructor-led training is available separately on DevOpsSchool.com.
Do I need a computer science degree?
No. Each path lists its real prerequisites — usually basic Linux, networking and one scripting language. The Foundation phase (days 1–15) covers the groundwork.
Which path should I start with?
If you are new to the ecosystem, start with the DevOps path — it builds the base every other discipline extends. If you already operate systems in production, jump straight to SRE, Platform Engineering, or the specialization that matches your team.
